My name is Selaci Butoto, but you can call me Selaci! <\/span> While my roots lie in the beautiful country of Burundi, Central Africa, my journey led me to New York of the United States. The decision to leave Africa was not easy, but my mother’s vision for a better life encouraged our family to pursue new opportunities. While spending a few transformative years in a refugee camp, there I focused on sharpening my art skills.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0In 2015, around May, my family and I arrived in America. Alongside my two sisters and six brothers, we embarked on this journey together. Even before setting foot in America, my artistic spirit thrived, with sketches and drawings adorning any surface I could find, whether it was on the ground or scraps of paper.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
I’m deeply passionate about various forms of art.\u00a0 At 17 years old,
<\/span>I proudly speak Swahili, I’m in the process of learning French, and I have a good grasp of Kirundi. I am also proud to be one of Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses.<\/span><\/p>\n
